Soulful Escapes: Our Girls Trip to Dimensions Retreats in the Algonquin Highlands

There’s something magical about escaping the noise of daily life and heading into the forest with your girlfriends—and that’s exactly what we found at Dimensions Retreats. Located in the heart of the Algonquin Highlands, what began as a fun girls’ getaway quickly turned into a deeply nourishing experience we’ll never forget.

My first interaction with Dimensions was completing their pre-arrival form that included questions like; do you want heated floors in your room and at what temperature? Do you have any good allergies and what kind of tea or coffee do you prefer? This was just the start of how attentive they are to each guest.

From the moment we arrived on the property, we felt an instant calm and a welcome to nature settle over us. Dimensions retreats feels like a hidden sanctuary; the freshness of the air, the sounds of the forest and the beauty of the trees all created the perfect backdrop to a restful, reflective and connected weekend.

Our Cabins
The property houses 17 private cabins, a ceremony dome and a main lodge. Our cabins were beautifully designed with a minimalist element. When you step into your cabin, you are met with a huge picture window that sits right across your bed. Waking up every morning and opening the blinds right into nature was truly a beautiful feeling. The bathroom felt like a spa with its calming, natural tile, skylight and free-standing tub. On my second night, while soaking in the tub, I was able to see the moon overhead – magical.

Food That Feeds the Body & Soul
Let’s talk about food – because wow. I was genuinely surprised with just how much I loved the food at Dimensions. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared with the freshest of ingredients. Every meal was a celebration of healthy and nourishing ingredients prepared with creativity and care. We got to meet Chef Naz & Chef Jordan, who proved that plant-forward meals can be not only healthy, but delicious! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were a treat…and yes, we definitely went back for seconds!

Things to To:
Our itinerary was sent to each of us prior to leaving for our getaway. Some activities were group-based, like daily morning group forest walk after breakfast, and the the group sound bath. Based on our selection from the pre-arrival form, we all got to try experiences that connected with each of us. I chose a Thai Massage and the BioSound Therapy.

I had zero knowledge of what a sound bath was prior to Dimensions and I was truly blown away. The sound bath was the most calming and relaxing session I’ve ever had. The deep breathing exercises, various sounds and rhythms helped me feel relaxed, calm and connected to myself.

Other experiences offered included your choice of bodywork: lymphatic drainage massage, Swedish massage or Reiki and also a Floatation therapy session (sensory deprivation in a float tank – will try this next time!).

During free time in the day, you can chill out in the Maple Lodge Lounge, take walks around the beautiful property, enjoy a canoe or kayak ride on the lake and in the evenings, you can sit by the bonfire and watch the sunset over the water.

Staff That Truly Cares
One of the standout parts of our trip was the incredibly kind and accommodating staff. When we arrived, we were welcomed like family…with hugs! Our bags were taken to our individual cabins and our car was parked for us while we were invited to the Maple Lodge Lounge to wait for the other guests to arrive. Throughout our stay, every question or request was handled with a smile and thoughtfulness. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth made our experience all the more special.

A Deeper Kind of Connection 🌿
More than anything, our time at Dimensions allowed us to slow down and simply be. Surrounded by nature, free from distractions, we had the space to laugh, talk, rest, and reflect. We left there feeling grounded, energized, and more connected—to the earth, to each other, and to ourselves.
