Biking Bliss: Exploring Burke Mountain Resort

Burke Mountain Resort, nestled in the scenic beauty of Vermont, is an excellent destination for mountain biking enthusiasts seeking adventure, relaxation, and time in nature. With over 2,000 acres to explore, this resort offers various activities catering to all ages and interests. Options for families include biking and hiking trails, a refreshing pool, and even camping for those looking for a more rugged experience or budget-friendly option.

One of the main highlights of Burke Mountain Resort is its world-class biking trails. The views of the surrounding Mountains only add to the excitement and beauty of the biking experience.

If you love to bike, my favourite thing about Burke is the lift to get bikers to the top of the mountain so we can save energy for the descent. This is great when going with the kids. When I go by myself, I like the challenge of going uphill, but my son isn’t at the level to do that yet,  So the lift system is a definite plus!

For those who prefer a slower pace, the resort has an extensive network of hiking trails that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the natural wonders of Vermont. From leisurely walks through scenic meadows to challenging hikes up rugged peaks, there’s a trail for every level of hiker.

Burke Mountain Resort hosts events and festivals throughout the year, attracting visitors from far and wide. From mountain biking races and music festivals to craft fairs and culinary events, there’s always something exciting happening at the resort.

After a day of adventure,  if your kids are like mine, they’ll still have lots of energy; parents can unwind and relax at the resort’s pool area while the kids burn off some of that energy before bed.

The resort features comfortable accommodations and even a campground for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. The best part is you still have access to some of the amenities of the resort if you choose.

There are also dining options available on-site, but a visit to the town at the base of the mountain is a treat.

Whether you are a family who enjoys biking or not, you’ll find something for everyone in the family here. Case in point, my son & I biked together while my wife and daughter hiked, and then we all met up and explored together.

Off the resort, you’ll want to explore the Kingdom Trails system, which transforms into a hiking paradise during the summer months and is a network of trails across Vermont. Comprising 100+ miles of handcrafted trails, skills parks, and pump tracks, it has gained global recognition as a mountain biking paradise, celebrated for its quality, diversity, stunning landscape, and welcoming community.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there’s a trail suitable for you. The trails range from flowing singletracks to challenging downhill descents, ensuring that every rider can find their perfect route. You’ll need a pass to use the trail, but the extra cost is worth it.
